Actress Vincy Aloshious recently revealed that an actor had misbehaved with her and her co-workers on a film set under the influence of drugs. Following her disclosure, she became the target of cyberattacks. Now, dubbing artist and actress Bhagyalakshmi has come forward in support of Vincy.
Bhagyalakshmi praised Vincy's stand as courageous, stating that not everyone is capable of making such a bold decision. "Vincy had earlier said, 'I love cinema, but it’s not like I can’t live without it.' I saw confidence and strength in those words," Bhagyalakshmi said.
Commenting on the backlash Vincy has faced, Bhagyalakshmi remarked, “Even without naming anyone, she is being attacked — that’s the unfortunate nature of the film industry. If someone dares to speak out, it’s often the fans who launch the first wave of criticism. There is always fear — fear of losing roles, of being sidelined. Very few in this industry are willing to stand up for what’s right.”
“Those who take a stand often stay at home and don’t get to work in films. I was thinking — from now on, Vincy might only get offers from rare directors who truly love cinema.”
“People who use drugs don’t say, ‘You're a good actress, we need you in Malayalam cinema, so I’ll quit.’ Malayalam cinema, and Indian cinema at large, continues to be ruled by male leads. Women rarely get the spotlight. And when they speak the truth, they are collectively targeted — a pattern we’ve seen for generations,” Bhagyalakshmi said in an interview with a media outlet.
