Couple found murdered inside house in Kottayam; injuries all over body

KOTTAYAM: A couple was found murdered inside their house in Kottayam. The dead have been identified as Vijayakumar, an industrialist and native of Thiruvathukkal, and his wife Meera. The bodies were found lying in a pool of blood. Both have wounds inflicted with a weapon on their faces.

The two were found dead when their maid came in the morning. The bodies were in two rooms and their clothes were found torn. The police were informed about the murders. It is not clear when the murders were committed.

The house has a security guard, who is not a Malayali. He has been with the couple for years. He is an elderly person and has hearing issues. The security guard knew about the murder only when the maid told him.

The couple had recently sacked a Bengali, who was working in their house. A case was registered against him for theft and he was jailed. His role is suspected in the case.

Kottayam SP Shahul Hameed responded that they have got a small hint about the accused. He clarified that personal enmity is believed to be behind the murders and that there was no indication of a theft.

Vijayakumar is a prominent industrialist in Kottayam. He is the owner of Indraprastha Auditorium in Kottayam. The couple has two children. Their son was found dead on the railway tracks. The couple’s daughter is abroad.
