THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor are incidents that have touched the hearts of people across the country and in such situations, the media should stand with the country, said Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar. "Even if there are different politics, religious interests and ideologies, we should put all that aside and stand together when it comes to national security. It is the duty of the media to rally the people with the country," the Governor said while inaugurating the 114th anniversary celebrations of Kerala Kaumudi.
"The media handled the Pahalgam terror attack and the subsequent incidents in different ways. Some of them were against the general interest of the country. As the architect of the Constitution Ambedkar said, "You should be Indians first, Indians last, and nothing else but Indians.". Everything else comes after that."
He said that providing news with 100 percent value in this era of value erosion is what makes Kerala Kaumudi different and makes it strong enough to survive beyond a hundred years.
Chief Editor Deepu Ravi presided over the function. He said that Kerala Kaumudi has existed all this time without compromising on the institutional goals. The values upheld at the time of Kerala Kaumudi's inception are still relevant today. He also said that strength lies in standing for equal opportunities and equal rights for the oppressed and marginalised today.
At the function held at Hotel 'O by Tamara', Kerala Kaumudi Associate Editor V.S. Rajesh delivered the welcome speech. V.K. Prashanth MLA greeted the gathering. Chief Manager S. Vimalkumar was present. Chief Editor Deepu Ravi presented a statue of Sree Padmanabhaswamy to the Governor as a gift from Kerala Kaumudi.
