THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Congress party has expressed dissatisfaction over former MLA PV Anvar's persistent public criticism. The party believes that Anvar is deliberately targeting Opposition Leader VD Satheesan as part of a calculated strategy. The UDF has taken a stand that PV Anvar's repeated questioning of the candidate decided by the Congress high command is unacceptable. The leaders have decided that they will not entertain any compromise that suggests that Congress has bowed to pressure.

UDF convenor Adoor Prakash stated there is still optimism about Anvar collaborating with the front, and discussions are underway regarding the possibility of granting him associate membership. “We are not concerned about Anvar contesting the election. He is trying to join the UDF by issuing last-minute warnings that he will contest independently. His remarks are also aimed at Satheesan,” added Adoor Prakash.

Meanwhile, PV Anvar has announced that he will make a final decision on contesting independently only after meeting with KC Venugopal. Addressing the press, Anvar accused the Congress of engaging in character assassination and public humiliation. “They stripped me down and threw me to the streets for mercy killing. Mud is being flung at my face,” he said, claiming his emotional outbursts were in response to mistreatment. He also warned that if justice is denied within the UDF, he will contest independently and even invite West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to campaign for him.

At the same time, UDF’s official candidate Aryadan Shoukath responded to the controversy, saying the party leadership would handle Anvar’s allegations. “I’m not taking any of the accusations personally. My focus is solely on securing a win. The real issue here is the development deadlock in Nilambur, and that will be our primary campaign message,” Shoukath stated.
