TEL AVIV: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that Hamas's Gaza chief Mohammed Sinwar (49) had been killed. He is the brother of former Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. Hamas commander Mohammed Shabana was also killed.

26 people, including them, were killed in an explosion by the Israeli army on the 13th in a bunker at the European Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza.

The bodies of both were recovered from the bunker and confirmed by an examination. Netanyahu had earlier indicated that Mohammed Sinwar may have been killed.

Yahya Sinwar, the mastermind of the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, was killed by Israel last October. Mohammed Sinwar then took control of Hamas in Gaza. Israel says Mohammed is also one of the masterminds of the terror attack.
