Kid dies after falling into open drain

KOLLAM: A four and-a-half-year-old girl was swept away after falling into an open drain near her house. The incident happened when she was all set to go to school for the first time. The dead is Akshika (Kalyani), daughter of Aneesh and Reshmi, of Pallikkal in Kottarakkara.

The girl had come to her grandfather's house in Chavara a month ago for her vacation. The accident occurred while she was riding a bicycle on the slab of the drain with her friends. She slipped on the side where there was no slab and fell into the drain.

She was admitted to LKG at NSSLP School in Pallikkal. She died at a time when she was about to go to school for the first time.

As soon as the accident happened, the locals searched the drain. The child was found unconscious from a distance of 300 meters. She was immediately taken to the hospital, but her life could not be saved.
