Traveling with girlfriend in stolen vehicle; thief who tried to break into St. Behanan Church arrested

PATHANAMTHITTA: A thief who tried to escape with his girlfriend in a stolen autorickshaw has been arrested by the police. Kuttippuram native Ananthakrishnan has been arrested. The accused tried to flee in an autorickshaw stolen from Kuttippuram in Malappuram. Ananthakrishnan was arrested in another attempted theft case in the district while he was travelling in an autorickshaw with his girlfriend through Pathanamthitta.

Police said that Ananthakrishnan stole an autorickshaw on May 28 and tried to break into the St. Behanan Church in Vazhamuttam on May 30. The police were able to identify the accused through CCTV footage. Locals said that they saw him near the field where the autorickshaw was parked.

The accused was also found to be a minor in the case of filling the autorickshaw with diesel and escaping without paying. The police tightened the action after it was discovered that the accused was one of the multiple cases registered at various stations.
