AHMEDABAD: The extent of the disaster that happened in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, is reported to be beyond what is being estimated. Since it was a direct flight to London, it was heavily fueled. This is also the reason why the plane that caught fire immediately after the crash engulfed in flames.
The heavy fuel also reportedly affected the rescue operations. Rescue workers including fire engines rushed to the spot as soon as the accident was reported, but they could not do anything in front of the blazing fire. The rescue operation began only after the fire had subsided a little. There are no reports of any passengers escaping. Black smoke is emanating in the area. The plane crashed in a residential area. Reports indicate that all those on board are victims of the disaster.
The accident occurred within eight minutes of take-off this afternoon. It crashed in Meghani Nagar. There are indications that there are over 242 passengers on board. 53 British citizens are among the passengers. However, there has been no official confirmation in this regard. Initial reports suggest that a technical fault caused the accident. However, this has not been confirmed. The possibility of a sabotage is also being investigated.
