Female students locked in classroom and made to do sit-ups; Punitive action in government school in Kerala draws complaint from parents

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A complaint has been filed that a teacher locked the students in a classroom and made them do sit-ups. The incident took place last Tuesday at a prominent government school in Thiruvananthapuram. The teacher took such a punitive action after the students left the class during the national anthem in the evening time.

The children were locked in the classroom and forced to do sit-ups. The children who were late to leave the school after the incident did not get the school bus. It was the principal who paid for the bus tickets for the children. With this, the parents came forward with a complaint. After the complaint was raised about the incident, the teacher expressed regret.

The school principal confirmed that the children were punished by making them do sit-ups. The matter was closed after the teacher expressed regret for her mistake. A report has been filed with the District Education Officer regarding the incident.
