Popular RJ Anjali issued an apology after her well-celebrated phone prank show created a furore for the below-the-belt comments made in it. It was a few days back that Anjali along with her friend pranked a henna artist which ended up inviting brickbats from the public. The remarks included in the show were vulgar and unscrupulous which made the Henna artist on the other side of the call uncomfortable.
Few netizens first called out the uncouth remarks made but nobody thought that the issue would spread like wildfire in a matter of hours. Anjali came under severe cyber-attack with torrents of comments reaching even her older posts. Vloggers took up the issue and even reputed personalities censured the radio jockey for her poor prank plot for engagements.
With criticism mounting on her, RJ Anjali appeared on Instagram to publicly apologize.
“Just before taking the video, we were sharing jokes talking about a particular scene from Meesamadhavan movie. We decided to use the same in the video too. After publishing the prank video, criticism started coming our way and we thought people were offended over the use of this particular word in it.
We never had any intention to hurt the woman’s source of living or her job particularly. To be featured in the prankstar show, it is important to register through Google Forms. There is a misconception that we are calling people randomly.
For all the people who stood by me and pointed out the wrong. Thank you so much. I would make all efforts to ensure that such mistakes won’t happen in my show again. Thank you”
In the prank show, RJ Anjali’s friend enquired with the henna artist if she would be ready to apply the henna on human posteriors. The two then continued with side-splitting laughs while the henna artist on the other side remained in the show in mute silence, implying her discomfort.
