PALAKKAD: Relatives blamed the school authorities for the death of a 14-year-old school girl in Nattukal, Palakkad, on Wednesday. According to relatives, ninth-class student Ashirnanda faced mental harassment from school, which led her to this drastic decision. The student was found hanging inside her house the other day. Ashirnanda’s parents alleged that a school faculty moved their daughter to a different class as punishment for scoring poor marks in examinations. Ashirnanda felt humiliated and was caught in mental agony over the decision.

The allegations are made against St Dominic's Convent English Medium School in Srikrishnapuram.

Ashirnanda was found hanging in her residence in Thachanattukara. Strong protests have emerged against the school in the backdrop of the allegations. Parents also protested at a meeting called by the school management.
