Actor and husband Shoaib Ibrahim has revealed the health status of actress Dipika Kakar after she underwent surgery for stage two liver cancer. Shoaib spoke about Deepika's treatment in a video shared on his YouTube channel.
Shoaib said that there are currently no cancer cells in Deepika's body but he added that the test results are serious. He also clarified that there is a possibility of the tumor coming back. "Earlier, we thought that everything would be fine if the tumor was removed. As far as the body is concerned, there are currently no cancer cells. However, the biopsy report and the PET scan that we received indicate a more serious situation. It was a grade three tumour and poorly differentiated, which means it was quite aggressive. There is a high risk of recurrence," he said.
Shoaib also clarified that there are two treatment methods for liver cancer. Immunotherapy, which is given through an IV drip, and targeted therapy, which is taken in pill form. He explained that the treatment will start with drugs taken orally. Although there are no cancer cells now, if any are found in the future, the dose of drugs will be increased, and the medicine will be given intravenously (through the veins). Deepika's new journey will begin next week. The treatment will last for one to two years. Shoaib informed that scans will be done every three weeks.
