Elon Musk launches new party, to give you back your freedom

WASHINGTON: Elon Musk, a billionaire and head of Tesla and SpaceX, has announced a new political party in the United States. The party has been named 'America Party'. 'We do not live in a democracy, but in a one-party system and America Party was formed to give you back your freedom,' Musk said in X.

Musk announced the new party after US President Donald Trump's 'One Big Beautiful Bill' passed the Senate with the casting vote of the Vice President. Musk had previously shared a survey seeking people's opinion regarding the formation of the party. 'Independence Day is the perfect time to ask whether we want freedom from the two-party (some call it one-party) system! Should we create America Party?' Musk shared the survey on July 4. In the survey, 64 percent of people responded that they wanted a new party and 34 percent did not.

Musk announced the new party in response to this. Musk said that it is clear that you want a new party and you will get it. Musk had earlier hinted that he may announce a new party after his relationship with Trump worsened.

Musk's constant criticism of the government's tax-budget bill caused a rift in their relationship. Trump criticized Musk for this and said that he would have to close the shop and return to South Africa. When asked if Musk would be deported, Trump said, ‘I don't know, we will have to see.’ Musk, who was born in South Africa, immigrated to Canada and then to the US.
