Three bottling lines, 1,21,500 litres of liquor per day; Menonpara project in Palakkad to begin tomorrow

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The construction of an Indian-made foreign liquor unit at the Malabar Distillery in Menonpara, Palakkad will begin tomorrow. The construction is expected to be completed in eight months. Three bottling lines are being set up. Currently, there are four lines at the Travancore Distillery in Thiruvalla. The Malabar Distillery will be able to produce 13,500 cases or 1,21,500 litres of liquor a day. About 250 people will be directly and indirectly employed. About 125 Kudumbashree workers will be employed in the bottling unit. There are about 30 existing employees. A total of 250 jobs will be created, including loading and unloading workers.

The construction is being supervised by the Kerala Electric and Allied Engineering Company. There are also plans to use the remaining land available in the company to produce value-added products from fruits in the future. A rainwater tank will also be installed in the company. Minister M B Rajesh said that the project will open new doors for employment in the district and prophesied a development boom in Palakkad. The construction of the project, which received administrative approval on July 10, 2024, and technical approval on March 28, 2025, will be held tomorrow.

M.B. Rajesh will inaugurate the construction tomorrow at 11.30 am in Palakkad.
