PUNE: A 11-month-old baby was killed after a trishul struck the baby’s head during a family dispute. The shocking incident happened in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district. The child has been identified as Avdhut Mengwade. The police have taken the child's parents, her brother and wife into custody for questioning in connection with the incident.
Police said Pallavi Mengwade and her husband Sachin Mengwade entered into a hearted argument. In between the fight, Pallavi picked up a trishul and tried to attack her brother-in-law Nitin Mengwade, who was trying to mediate the quarrel along with his wife Bhagyashree. She was holding her baby Avdhut. When Nitin dodged the trishul, it stuck the child inflicting a fatal head injury. The baby died on the spot itself. The initial conclusion is that the cause of death was a deep wound which he sustained on his head.
When the police arrived at the house as part of the investigation, the trishul was washed clean and blood stains in the room had been wiped. The police believe this was to destroy evidence. All the senior members of the house have been taken into custody. Investigation is underway.
