NEYYATINKARA: The accused, who beat his father to death has been remanded. The remanded is Sijoy Samuel (19) of Athiyannur. The incident happened last Friday. Police said Sijoy’s mental heath was damaged due to his excessive use of mobile phone. He was under treatment and had restored his normal life but his attacks continued.

With this, Sunil Kumar and his wife Lalitha Kumari shifted to a rented house at Pananinna in Kanjiramkulam. However, they brought food for him daily. He demanded money from his father Sunil Kumar when he came with food and attacked him when he refused to give. He was later taken to a private hospital in Neyyattinkara by the locals. Sunil initially told the hospital authorities that he slipped and fell. The authorities, realizing that the injury was not due to a fall, informed the police. Sijoy is the youngest of the three children of Sunil Kumar and Lalitha Kumari. Sunil Kumar was laid to rest.
