THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Mohanan Kunnummal has submitted a report to the Governor pointing out that suspended Registrar Dr. K.S. Anilkumar continues to come to the office and use the official vehicle despite being prohibited from doing so.
The VC also pointed out that Anilkumar is preventing Dr. Mini Kappen, the Planning Director, who was reassigned to handle the Registrar's duties, from carrying out those responsibilities. Neither the police nor the government has taken action to remove the suspended registrar from the office. Dr. Anilkumar has not applied for revocation of his suspension and is not complying with the Vice-Chancellor’s directives. The Vice-Chancellor added that it is now up to the Governor to take appropriate action.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mini Kappen, who is currently handling the Registrar’s responsibilities, has informed the Academic Council members and Syndicate members that the Council meeting will be held on August 14. The Council consists of 70 faculty members. Department heads and joint registrars are directly sending files to the Vice-Chancellor, who is making decisions accordingly. He will also act on 1,000 pending degree certificate applications. The VC is expected to reach the university this morning.
The Save University Campaign Committee stated that Dr. Anilkumar was appointed as Registrar on deputation. The committee released government and Travancore Devaswom Board orders confirming that Anilkumar was indeed on deputation.
