MUMBAI: Chandra Barot (86), the director of the classic 1978 film Don starring Amitabh Bachchan, passed away. He passed away at a hospital in Bandra, Mumbai. His wife Deepa Barot said that he had been undergoing treatment for a lung disease for the past seven years.
Chandra Barot was born in Tanzania, South Africa. Later, he moved to India and entered the world of cinema. He entered the directorial field with the 1978 film ‘Don’, which starred Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role. Don was also a turning point in Amitabh Bachchan’s career. He has also directed films like Aashrita, Pyar Bhara Dil, Hong Kong Wali Script and Neil Ko Pakadna... Impossible. Chandra Barot also worked as an assistant director with Manoj Kumar.
