Four stitches; Assistant Motor Inspector attacked with key set; agent subdued and handed over to police

THIRUVALLA: The agent from Erattupetta who barged into the Motor Vehicles Department office and attacked and injured an Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector has been arrested. Mahin (31), an agent at Erattupetta RT office, has been taken into custody. R. Sandeep, an Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector at the Pathanamthitta Enforcement RT office working at the Thiruvalla Revenue Tower, was injured.

The incident took place at 2.30 pm on Monday. Mahin, who had come to the office to demand a reduction in the fine for a vehicle, was informed by the assaulted officer that office hours had passed. Enraged by this, Mahin verbally abused the staff, including the female staff, and then attacked Sandeep with a key set he was carrying.

Other office staff and employees of nearby offices who had rushed to the spot after hearing the commotion subdued Mahin and handed him over to the Thiruvalla police. Sandeep, who was admitted to the Thiruvalla Taluk Hospital, had to get four stitches on his forehead. The Thiruvalla police said that the accused will be produced in court later.
