THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal raised doubts over the sudden resignation of India’s Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar. Venugopal found it suspicious that the Vice President resigned on the first day of the Parliament session.

“Vice President resigned citing medical reasons. I respect that. However, as the chairman of the upper house, he had even scheduled the programs for Tuesday, so unexpectedly quitting the office without informing anyone is simply shocking. This is at a time when the Prime Minister is abroad. It is impossible to believe that it was solely for medical reasons that Dhankar resigned. At this moment, Jagdeep Dhankar is not even answering phone calls. I simply don't know what is happening inside the ruling government. Dhankar is not even responding to calls from people who intend to wish him for his service in the upper house.” said K C Venugopal.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar's unexpected resignation, citing medical reasons, sparked huge speculation among ruling party leaders and the opposition. Just hours before announcing his resignation, Dhankar talked with senior political leaders but never gave any clue that he would step down immediately.
