CHENNAI: Actor Suriya has come forward to support the family of stunt master Mohanraj, who tragically lost his life during the filming of a movie. Suriya has pledged to take care of the educational expenses of Mohanraj’s children, while actor Silambarasan (Simbu) has extended financial assistance to the bereaved family. The gesture of support was made public by stunt choreographer Stunt Silva.

The fatal accident took place on July 13 during the shoot of director Pa. Ranjith’s upcoming film Vettuvam. Mohanraj, a native of Kanchipuram, sustained fatal injuries while performing a high-risk car stunt. The film is being produced under Pa. Ranjith’s banner, Neelam Studios.

Production had commenced on July 10 in Vilundamavadi, near Velankanni. During an action sequence, Mohanraj reportedly fell from a moving vehicle and later complained of chest pain. He was immediately rushed to the government hospital in Nagapattinam, where he was declared dead. Footage of the stunt sequence and visuals of Mohanraj in an unconscious state have since gone viral on social media platforms.
