KANNUR: A youth gave the first information about Govindachamy, who escaped from jail, to the police. The youth identified as Vinoj saw Govindachamy when he was going to his office at Thalap in Kannur. He grew suspicions and soon passed the information to the police. Govindachamy after knowing that he was identified soon jumped into the well of an empty house.

Vinoj said, 'I saw someone walking along the right side of the road on the Kannur bypass road. He had a bundle of dirty clothes on his head. He was holding the bundle with both his hands. When I grew suspicious, I called an auto driver, who was there, and came in the scooter for about 15 meters. When I saw him walking, I called, ‘eda, eda.’ Crossed the road and called him ‘Eda, Govindachamy’. When he knew that he was identified, he jumped the wall of a house surrounded by bushes and ran forward. Soon informed the police.'

A police team arrived, surrounded the house and in a search found him hiding in the well. He jumped the jail at around 1.15 am today. The authorities knew the information at around 7 am. He was housed in the 10th block. He came out after breaking the cell. He then made a rope using cloth and with the help of it jumped the wall.
