THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of rain in Kerala for the next five days. A low-pressure area is located along the coast from Maharashtra to Kerala. A very low-pressure area is located over the coast of West Bengal and over the northwest Bay of Bengal.
The extreme low-pressure area is likely to move towards West Bengal, North Odisha and Jharkhand in the next 24 hours. Kerala is witnessing heavy rains due to this. IMD has informed that very heavy rains are possible today and tomorrow and heavy rains from July 25 to 29. Strong winds with a speed of 50 to 60 kmph are possible in isolated places in Kerala from today (25/07/2025) to 27/07/2025.
Initially, an orange alert was announced for six districts today. However, it has now been extended to seven districts. An orange alert has been announced for Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki and Thrissur districts. Tomorrow, an orange alert will be issued for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram districts. IMD has predicted that there is a possibility of very heavy rainfall in isolated places. IMD defines Very Heavy Rainfall as rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm in 24 hours.
