College student killed after speeding private bus rams into bike in Thevara

KOCHI: A student was crushed to death in a tragic bus accident in Kochi on Saturday. The incident took place in Thevara, Ernakulam. Govind (19), a first-year student of Thevara SH College, died.

The accident occurred at around 8 am today. Govind was coming down from the bridge near Ernakulam North Town Hall. A private bus trailing the biker, at high speed, tried to overtake, which resulted in the tragedy. The handle of the bike hit the bus, resulting in the youngster being thrown under the bus. The private bus, plying at a dangerous speed, ran over the youth. The locals rushed the youngster to the hospital, but he was declared brought dead.

The bus named Nandanam, plying on the Eroor route, was involved in the accident. Govind's body is currently kept at the Ernakulam General Hospital. The police have registered a case in the incident.
