CHENNAI: Popular comedy and character actor Madhan Babu, also known as Madhan Bob, passed away at his residence in Chennai on Saturday. He had been suffering from ill health for some time. He had acted in over 600 films.
He made his debut with the film Vaaname Ellai (1992), directed by K. Balachander. Notable roles include Diamond Babu in Thenali (2000) and Manager Sundaresan in Friends (2000). Other major films include Thevar Magan (1992), Sathi Leelavathi (1995), Chandramukhi (2005), and Ethir Neechal (2013).
Apart from Tamil, he also acted in Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam films. His Malayalam films include Bhramaram (2009) and Celluloid (2013). Beyond acting, Madhan was also known as a musician, having trained in both Western classical music and Carnatic music. He is survived by wife Susheela and two children.
