Thousands bid farewell to Kalabhavan Navas

ALUVA: Beloved Malayalam mimicry artist and actor Kalabhavan Navas, who died of a heart attack in a hotel room while attending a film shoot, was laid to rest amid tears from thousands. The post-mortem conducted yesterday morning at Kalamassery Medical College confirmed that a heart attack was the cause of death. He was found dead around 9 p.m. on Friday night at Vrindavan Residency, Chottanikkara.

By 12:30 p.m. yesterday, as his body reached his home on Kundeli Road, Nalam Mile, crowds of mourners had already gathered in large numbers to pay their final respects. By 3 p.m., the body was taken to Sharafunhuda Juma Masjid at Nalam Mile and then to Aluva Town Masjid by 4 p.m. The burial took place at 6 p.m.

Minister P. Rajeev paid homage on behalf of the state government. MPs and MLAs, including Hibi Eden, Anwar Sadath, Eldhose Kunnappilly, Municipal Chairman M.O. John, CPM area secretary A.P. Udayakumar, as well as leaders of various political and social organisations, film and mimicry artists, also paid their respects.

Actors Dileep, Siddique, Jayan Cherthala, Shajohn, Irshad, Kottayam Nazeer, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Prajod, Kalabhavan Rahman, Saju Kodiyan, Harisree Ashokan, Harisree Yousuf, Pramod Mala, Shwetha Menon, Devan, Binu Adimali, Saju Sreedhar, and many others visited his home to bid farewell.
