Actress Urvashi said that she is very happy to have received the National Award for Best Supporting Actress. The actress told a media outlet that the film 'Ullozhukku' gave her a very good experience. Urvashi clarified she has no regrets about not getting the Best Actress award and that the audience accepting her is her greatest happiness.
"I still wonder what the criteria for an award are. On what basis is it decided? Is there a standard for acting? Or is it enough to give such an award after an actor crosses a particular age? It should be known on what basis the lead role is decided. Someone should tell us that. Whether it is the central government or the state government, it should be made clear," said Urvashi.
Urvashi won the award for her role in the film 'Ullozhukk' directed by Christo Tomy for her role in Leelamma. When she won the National Award for Best Supporting Actress, 'Ullozhukk' became the best Malayalam film. This is not the first time that Urvashi has been relegated to second place at the National Awards. The National Award she won in 2006 for her performance in 'Achuvinte Amma' was also for a supporting actress. B. Sarojadevi, who was a member of the jury at that time, argued that Urvashi was the best actress. The other jury members argued that Urvashi was not the heroine in the film. Although Sarojadevi argued that Achu's mother, not Achu, is the main character, Kangana Ranaut (Tanu Weds Manu Returns), whom everyone else argued for, won the best actress award. Sarojadevi herself told Urvashi about the argument in the jury when she came to receive the award.
