Malayalam dubbed version of Kannada movie ‘SU from SO’ will soon cross one crore rupees collection in Kerala, just three days after the release. The drama horror genre movie had a sluggish start in Kerala, collecting just Rs 8.5 lakh on the opening day, but the word of mouth publicity did the trick, with the collection now jumping sixfold.
The landscape, homes, and settings shown in the film were eerily similar to a middle-class Malayali's life, which made audiences easier to connect with the feelings. Apart from this, a stellar crew, a lion’s majority hailing from a theatre background, delivered a performance worth every penny.
The popularity of the movie is surging in Kerala, in a way, overshadowing the recent releases in Malayalam. Such an acceptance for a dubbed version of a Kannada movie of the drama genre is unprecedented in Kerala.
As per the box office records, the 'small' Kannada movie will touch Rs 50 crores in global collection in the coming days.
The story revolves around a coastal hamlet in Manguluru, where the neighbourhood is tightly knitted and friendship prevails. However, a cheeky attempt by a youngster to catch a glimpse of the village dame at night ends up in misery, and the retribution is for the whole village to endure.
Chaos descends soon, while the villagers coalesce together to ponder a plan to come out of the horror spell. The country customs, scenic coastal settings soothe the mind, while the gutsy yet panicky traits of the villagers would leave anyone in side-splitting laughter, at least a chuckle.
