Dharmasthala mass burial case: Complete skeleton and woman's clothes found from 'surprise spot'; about 100 bones found so far

DHARMASTHALA (KARNATAKA): The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the mass killings in Dharmasthala following the revelation of a sanitation worker has so far found a complete skeleton of a man and about 100 bones. Nothing was found in the search conducted yesterday. The search will continue. The point where more bones were found is said to be point 11A. The examination has been completed at 12 points.

These were recovered in the past seven days from 11 of the 13 points marked by the sanitation worker and from a newly shown spot. The complete skeleton and more bones were found on a hilltop in Bangalagude near Netravati, which the SIT has termed a 'surprise spot'. The complete skeleton has been sent for forensic examination to determine whether it is that of a man or a woman.

The woman's clothes have also been recovered from the top of the hill. The sanitation worker has demanded that a search be conducted at about 70 places in addition to the 13 points mentioned earlier. Adv. N. Manjunatha said that the sanitation worker has the right to correct the points mentioned earlier if they are found to be inaccurate later. He is a lawyer who is trying to solve the disappearance of first-year MBBS student Ananya Bhatt, who went missing after visiting a temple in 2003.

Meanwhile, there have been allegations that an artificial shortage is being created to prevent the delivery of ground penetrating radar. Ground Penetrating Radar is a tool used to detect the possibility of buried objects, including human remains underground. Ananya Bhatt's mother Sujatha Bhatt has demanded that GPR technology be used for the search.
