NEW DELHI: With the Vice Presidential election scheduled for September 9, the BJP is in the final stages of deliberations on who should be the candidate. Although many names have been floated from various quarters, the leadership has not officially responded. However, leaders had earlier clarified that the next Vice President will be someone associated with the RSS ideology.
The names of former Kerala Governor and now Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan and Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena are being heard. However, the names of Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot, Sikkim Governor Om Mathur and Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha are also on the list. Apart from this, Seshadri Chari is also being considered. BJP sources say that current Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh is also a possibility in the context of the Bihar elections.
