SRINAGAR: Two soldiers were martyred in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district. Lance Naik Preetipal Singh and Sepoy Harmeinder Singh lost their lives, while two other soldiers sustained injuries. The encounter broke out during a joint search operation by police and army in the forested Akhal area as part of anti-terror operations. The search for terrorists in the forest area has been ongoing for nine days.

The operation was launched following intelligence reports about terrorists hiding in the forest. During the search, the army neutralised two terrorists. Drones were also used to locate the terrorists. When the terrorists tried to escape to their hideout, the army attacked them by dropping bombs using drones. The army confirmed that the two soldiers were martyred during this operation.

Meanwhile, in Kishtwar, Jammu, security forces are conducting searches in 12 locations as part of actions related to terrorist activities.
