KOCHI: A youngster, returning from a DJ party, rammed his car recklessly into 14 two-wheelers in Kochi late Friday night. The Duke bike and six scooters were destroyed. The remaining seven bikes were also damaged. A blood sample of the driver was collected and sent for forensic examination on suspicion of intoxication.

The car driven by Mahesh (32), a real estate agent from Kollam Anchal, crashed into the parked vehicles of Ali Cafe near the Kundannur flyover.

The incident took place at 11.30 pm on Friday. Mahesh's sister and another young woman were in the car at the time of the accident. The car that was dangerously speeding swerved off the main road towards the café and went out of control.

Vaikom native Asim, who was entering the restaurant after parking his bike, escaped with a minor head injury. The bike was destroyed. The front portion of the car was damaged after hitting other scooters and bikes.

Those present at the hotel stopped Mahesh and handed him over to Maradu police. A case was registered against him for speeding and reckless driving. He was released on bail later. More charges will be added against Mahesh after the test results.
