KSRTC conductor held with cannabis in Mavelikkara

ALAPPUZHA: A KSRTC employee has been arrested with cannabis in Mavelikkara. The arrested man is Jithin Krishna (35), a native of Bharanikkavu. He works as a conductor at the Harippad KSRTC depot and has been in the job for 15 years.

Acting on a tip-off about his involvement in cannabis sales, the excise department had placed Jithin under surveillance for nearly a month. He was arrested early this morning during a vehicle inspection near Aalinchuvat Junction in Moonnamkuri, Mavelikkara. A total of 1.286 kg of cannabis was seized from him.

The arrest was made by the Alappuzha Excise Special Squad led by Circle Inspector A. Sebastian, along with Preventive Officers C.P. Sabu, M. Reni, B. Abhilash, P. Anilal, T. Jiyesh, K.R. Rajeev, and Civil Excise Officers Sajan Joseph, Sulekha, and Bhagyanath. The accused was remanded by the Mavelikkara Magistrate Court.
