Man, who attacked Delhi CM is from Gujarat, a dog lover, says mother

NEW DELHI: Police said the man who attacked Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is a native of Gujarat. They said that he has been identified as Rajesh Sakaria from Rajkot in Gujarat. He is being interrogated. He slapped the chief minister and pulled her hair during Jansunwai, a public meet organized at her official residence.

The attacker was caught by the security personnel. After questioning, it was identified that he was a native of Rajkot in Gujarat. Rajesh Zakaria is a dog lover and was upset by the Supreme Court verdict regarding shelters for stray dogs, his mother told media.


The chief minister organises 'Jansunvai' at her residence every week to listen to the complaints of the people. Meanwhile, Rajesh approached the chief minister with some documents. While talking, he started shouting and attacked her. Eyewitnesses said that Rajesh was drunk and committed the attack. However, this has not been confirmed.
