PALAKKAD: The Palakkad Municipality has decided to exclude MLA Rahul Mamkootathil from the inauguration of the Palakkad bus stand following recent allegations against him. The decision was formally communicated to the legislator through an official letter.

The Municipality cited concerns that certain groups were likely to stage protests at the function in light of the serious allegations raised against him. Such a situation, the letter noted, could undermine the dignity of the event.

The letter states:

"You were invited as the chief guest for the Palakkad Municipal Bus Stand inauguration ceremony on August 22, 2025, at 4 p.m. However, considering the serious allegations raised against you in recent days, and since there is a possibility that some organisations may arrive at the event with protest programs against you, there is concern that the dignity of the program may be affected. To avoid any unfortunate incidents, we kindly request you to refrain from attending the event."

Rahul Mamkootathil had earlier stepped down as Youth Congress president after allegations surfaced that he sent obscene messages to a young actress. Meanwhile, calls for his resignation as MLA are also gaining momentum from various quarters.
