HYDERABAD: Veteran CPI leader and former party general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy (83) passed away on Friday. He was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Hyderabad. Reddy served as the CPI general secretary from 2012 to 2019. He was also elected to Parliament twice from the Nalgonda Lok Sabha constituency.
Sudhakar Reddy was born in Mahbubnagar. He represented Nalgonda in the Lok Sabha elections of 1998 and 2004. He was known as a leader who actively took up workers’ issues and strongly voiced their basic rights.
Reddy entered active politics through student politics in Kurnool. He also made significant contributions to the Telangana region and to the Indian communist movement.
