India-China friendship close at hand?

The US had earlier increased its cooperation with India to counter the growing influence of China. India too had grown closer to the US for a similar reason. However, what has now emerged is a situation where India is joining China and turning against the US due to Trump's vindictive tariff policy. India's relationship with Russia has been stable for decades. Russia has never abandoned India in any adverse situation. In return, India does not take a stand against Russia on any issue.

It was the pressure of the United States that forced India to get closer to Russia in the past. However, when the communist country China grew into an economic power that surprised the capitalist country America, all the world equations changed accordingly. Initially, the growth of India's economy was modest, but this is not the case today. India is becoming a rapidly growing economic power. The four-year-old skirmish between the armies on the China-India border is proof that it was China that got angered by this. India did not take a position of retreating out of fear. Following this, the relationship and trade partnership between India and the United States improved significantly. At that time, the United States realized that India could be used to stop China's advance. However, Trump's second coming disrupted all this.

The United States has made China and India its enemies by imposing tariffs on both of them. It is a natural thing in the world order for those who suffer the same grief to unite. That is the signal given by Prime Minister Modi during his visit to Japan. The Indian Prime Minister said in Tokyo that if the great powers of Asia, China and India, unite, it can bring stability to the world economic order. Modi's words can be interpreted as a sign of the formation of an India-China-Russia political alliance against the US. Modi, who is arriving in China today, will meet President Xi Jinping. Modi has stated that the aim of his visit is to establish stable bilateral relations and that this is essential for peace in the Indo-Pacific region. Modi, who is participating in the Shanghai Summit, is also meeting Russian President Putin.

The growing India-China-Russia cooperation will become the biggest threat to the United States, as India's political and economic stability, policy transparency, and opportunities for freedom of expression have made it a major centre for global investment. Former US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan is absolutely right when he said that the American brand globally is in the toilet. No country in the world can see America with credibility. Today, when even China is gaining credibility, it is Trump's tariff war that has made America an untrustworthy country. When India and China join hands, America will experience the knowledge of "All who use the sword will die by the sword."
