BEIJING: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that terrorism is a threat to all humanity. Speaking at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit today morning, he said that India has been a victim of terrorism and that everyone should collectively fight terror groups. He also made it clear that there should be no double standards in the fight against terrorism.
“India has been suffering from terrorism for four decades. Recently, we saw its ugly face in Pahalgam. We thank the countries that stood with us in that sorrow. In such a situation, it is natural to ask whether it is acceptable that some countries openly support terrorism. We must fight it together. This is our duty to humanity. The Chabahar port in Iran is very important for trade relations,” Modi said. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was also present at the venue.
During the Shanghai Cooperation Summit, Prime Minister Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed that both countries should stand together with mutual trust. Both leaders emphasised that India and China are not enemies, but partners. Both countries are working to strengthen their economies despite the sanctions imposed by the United States on their products due to oil imports from Russia. The leaders stressed the need to stand together for this. They also agreed that differences should not turn into conflicts and that India-China relations should remain long-lasting.
