THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Crime Branch started recording the statements of the complainants in the case against MLA Rahul Mamkootathil.

There are nine complaints based on media reports. The first to be recorded was the statement of High Court lawyer Shinto, who complained that a case should be registered on the allegation of inciting forced abortions. The statement of Kerala Congress leader A.H. Hafees was also recorded. The victims have not yet filed a complaint.

Information was collected from three media journalists who are close to the victims. The move is to seek information from the victims based on their statements and audio recordings. It must be scientifically proven that the voice message that came out is Rahul's.

The Crime Branch informed the Speaker about the details of the case against Rahul. This is when the assembly session is scheduled to begin on the 15th. The Crime Branch will issue another notice to Rahul to appear for questioning in the case of making a fake identity document for the Youth Congress organisational elections. Sections 78(2), 351 of the Indian Penal Code and 120(O) of the Police Act have been imposed. Section 78(2) carries a penalty of up to 3 years in prison and a fine. If evidence is not found, the case will have to be closed.
