HYDERABAD: K Kavitha has resigned from the Bharat Rashtriya Samiti (BRS). Kavitha was suspended yesterday by party president and her father K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) for anti-party activities. Following this, Kavitha informed her resignation from the party. She also resigned her Member of Legislative Council (MLC) post. Kavitha was suspended from the party following her remarks against senior leaders including her relative T Harish Rao.

Addressing her brother and former minister K T Rama Rao, she said that she requests Ram Anna to take care of KCR's health and party workers. Kavitha said at a press conference today that KCR is her inspiration. Kavitha praised KCR for ensuring justice for the Dalits and backward classes in Telangana. 'She alleged that conspiracies within the party are targeting her. I had told my brother that a campaign against me was going on inside the party office. However, there was no response even from her brother, who is the working president,' added Kavitha.

Kavitha had been regularly criticizing leaders in public for some time now. Kavitha alleged that former minister T Harish Rao and former Rajya Sabha MP Santosh Kumar, along with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, were trying to tarnish Chandrasekhara Rao's image. This came after the Congress government handed over the investigation into the Kaleshwaram project irregularities case, in which KCR was accused, to the CBI. Kavitha's allegations were that her father was being cheated by others, but it became a headache for KCR himself.

BRS leaders T Ravinder Rao and Soma Bharath Kumar said action against Kavitha was taken in the name of anti-party activities. The leadership has taken seriously Kavita's behavior and anti-party activities damaging the BRS. Kavita's followers staged protests following news of her suspension.
