Accident in Ochira; Thar was over speeding, girl undergoing treatment in critical condition

KOLLAM: The girl, injured in the collision between a KSRTC fast passenger and Thar in Ochira Thursday morning, is in a critical condition. Three in the Thar had died on the spot itself. The Thar carrying Prince Thomas (44) and his family of Thevalakkara, met with the accident. There were five in the jeep.


The victims of the accident are Prince and his children Athul (14) and Alka (5). Prince' wife Bindya Susan Varghese and another daughter Aishwarya are undergoing treatment. Aishwarya is on ventilator at a nearby private hospital. There is progress in Bindya's health. They were taken out after cutting open the vehicle. Prince is the owner of Kallelibhagam Kairali Finance. The accident happened when Prince and his family were returning home after seeing of Bindya’s nephew at the Nedumbassery Airport. In the meanwhile, the accident occurred on the national highway.


One side of the front of the KSRTC bus was completely damaged. Due to the impact of the collision, one of the passengers in the bus fell onto the road. The driver was trapped inside after hitting the front of the seat.


Locals alleged that accidents occur regularly since the construction of the national highway began. Locals said that due to lack of lighting, it is not possible to see the cutting or divider on the road. It is difficult to drive. The real cause of the accident is being investigated. Motor Vehicle Department officials reached the spot and inspected. It is clear from the CCTV footage that the jeep was speeding.
