THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Devaswom Board President PS Prashanth expressed his fear over the recurring setbacks faced in anything related to the Sabarimala temple. Prasanth said that even tantric matters are facing obstacles in the temple and refrained from naming those responsible for the troubles. Prasanth’s comments come when the High Court is considering the gold-plated case related to the Sabarimala temple.

PRASANTH:

“Even devotees are afraid to come to Sabarimala. They are afraid to offer anything. Sabarimala has become a nightmare. There are some obstacles in Sabarimala that do not apply to any other temple. I am also afraid of how the day-to-day developments in Sabarimala will be carried forward.

There are concerns about everything. We need a precise outline to manage affairs. Without that, it will be difficult to move forward. I will refrain from naming those people responsible for obstructing work at the temple. We have given precise answers to the questions asked by the court. Any agency can look into the issue of the gold-plated controversy."

The High Court had earlier directed that the gold-plated coverings from 'Dwarapalaka' idols of Sabarimala temple, taken for repair in Chennai, be brought back immediately. The court stated that the action of the Devaswom Board without the prior permission of the Sabarimala Special Commissioner and the High Court was improper. The direction was given by a division bench comprising Justice V. Raja Vijayaraghavan and Justice K.V. Jayakumar.

Notices were also sent to the Travancore Devaswom Commissioner, Sabarimala Executive Officer, Thiruvabharanam Commissioner and others to explain if there is any reason for not taking action. The court also directed them to produce the files and documents related to the decision to send the gold ornaments for repairs. However, yesterday, the High Court permitted the continuation of the repairs.
