Tamil audiences and the film fraternity were left stunned by the news of the death of actor Robo Shankar, who was just 46. In no time, rumours spread about the actor’s jaundice having worsened his health, while some others said he collapsed at a film set due to a cardiac arrest. A medical bulletin has now been released, clearing the air about the real cause of the death.

As per the report, Mr Robo Shankar was admitted to GEM Hospital, Perungudi, Chennai, on 16th September 2025 in a critical condition with a massive gastrointestinal bleed and multi-organ dysfunction secondary to a complex abdominal condition after he collapsed on a film set. Despite the best efforts from experts, his condition worsened, and Robo Shankar breathed his last on 18th September 2025 at 9.05 pm.

It was a few years before that Robo came out healthy from jaundice, but his weight loss raised eyebrows and concern among his well-wishers.

In a former interview, Robo Shankar had talked about how his irregular eating habits from a very young age paved the way for his ill health. As per Robo, while on foreign locations for work, he used to survive without any food. The actor believed this worsened his liver condition and thus exacerbated the disease. Jaundice came back after Robo recently revealed that he had yet again turned to irregular eating habits.

Robo Shankar, a former Mr India contestant and bodybuilder, is survived by his wife and daughter.
