Rains to intensify in Kerala from Monday, alert issued to people of these districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that there is a possibility of rain in Kerala for the next five days. Yellow alert has been issued in various districts. Kannur and Kasaragod are on yellow alert tomorrow. The possibility of isolated heavy rain is predicted. Heavy rain is defined as a situation where rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm is received in 24 hours.

Black Sea phenomenon

As part of the black sea phenomenon, the Kerala coast will be in a state of severe thunderstorms from 08.30 pm tomorrow (22/09/2025) to 02.30 pm on 24/09/2025; The National Centre for Oceanographic Studies and Research (INCOIS) has informed that there is a possibility of sea erosion due to high waves of 0.9 to 1.0 meters on the coasts from Neerodi to Arokyapuram in Kanyakumari district from tomorrow (22/09/2025) from 05.30 pm to 24/09/2025 11.30 am.

Fishermen and coastal residents should be vigilant as there is a possibility of sea erosion.

As the sea is likely to become rougher, they should stay away from the danger areas as per the instructions of the authorities.

Small boats and yachts should be avoided during this time.

Landing fishing vessels in the sea during periods of high waves and rough seas is just as dangerous as landing them in the sea. Therefore, landing and landing them in the sea during periods of strong waves should be avoided.

Until the INCOIS warning is lifted, all activities, including beach-based tourism, should be completely avoided.
