CHENNAI: It is hinted that the decision not to file a case against Tamil Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) leader and actor Vijay in the Karur tragedy, was on the instructions of Chief Minister M K Stalin. His stand is that filing a case against Vijay is a wrong precedent and that it will help the BJP to grab a chance to score.

Meantime, Vijay had stepped forward in a video the other day challenging Stalin. In the video, Vijay asked not to touch any of his TVK workers over the Karur tragedy and that he would be at home or in his office.

'What happened should not have happened. How can I leave the city and come when so many are suffering? My absence is due to some special circumstances. I will call on the injured very soon. I thank all the leaders and political workers who stood with me in my pain. When the people of Karur were shouting the truth, it felt like God came down and shouted the truth. Chief Minister Sir, do whatever you want... Do not touch my party workers. I will be at home or in my office. My political journey will continue,' said Vijay. Stalin has not yet responded to Vijay's challenge.

After the release of Vijay's video message, DMK spokesperson A Saravanan stepped forward against the actor. Saravanan criticized that this was Vijay's new script and it took four days to release the video. Vijay should take the responsibility for the Karur tragedy. Saravanan also alleged that the tragedy happened because Vijay violated the law.
TVK Karur district secretary Mathiyazhakan was arrested in the Karur tragedy that claimed the lives of 41 people. A case has been registered against party state general secretary Bussy Anand and joint secretary C T Nirmal Kumar. TVK leader Paun Raj of Karur was also taken into custody. Paun Raj signed the application seeking permission for TVK's programme.
