Man arrested for strangling wife to death in Kottayam, dumps body in gorge

KOTTAYAM: The police have released more details in the case of a 59-year-old man in Kanakari strangling his wife to death and later dumping her body in a gorge. An investigation revealed that the accused, Sam K George, had extramarital affairs. The body of his wife Jessy (50) was found abandoned at Cheppukulam in Karimannoor, Idukki. The police had earlier arrested Sam in the case.

The police said the interrogation revealed that Jessy questioning Sam for his extramarital affairs led to the murder. Jessy went missing from her house in Kappadu on September 26th. Her children who are abroad had spoken with her on September 26th. However, they could not contact her later. On the 29th, her children informed Jessy’s friends and they filed a complaint with the police. In the investigation, the police grew suspicious on Sam.

The murder came to light when Sam, who was in Bengaluru, was brought home and questioned. He strangled her to death on September 26. He then dumped the body in a gorge at Cheppukulam near Thodupuzha. According to his statement, her body was found in a 30-foot deep place in a search conducted by the police.

There were some issues between the two since 2005. The divorce case is ongoing in the Pala court. Although the case is going on, the two lived on two floors of the house. Jessy alleged that Sam had extra marital affairs. As all her children were abroad for studies and work, she had been living alone on the upper floor of the house for six months. The police also found that a fight broke out between the two after Sam came home with a foreign woman a week before the murder.
