Sabarimala former administrative officer Murari Babu suspended in gold plating issue 

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former Sabarimala administrative officer Murari Babu has been suspended in the controversy related to the gold plating issue. He was suspended by the Travancore Devaswom Board. The devaswom vigilance in their investigation has found lapses from his side in the issue. Murari Babu is presently serving as devaswom deputy commissioner. The decision was taken in the board meeting convened here today.

In 2019, the then administrative officer Murari Babu wrote a report stating that the gold layer was actually copper. Murari Babu had mentioned in the file that the gold sheets should be handed over to Unnikrishnan Potty in 2025. The Devaswom Vigilance' initial report stated that there was official lapse in this incident. The vigilance report is against the then administrative officer Murari Babu, Thiruvabharanam Commissioner K S Baiju, and executive officer Sudheesh.
