THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Devaswom Minister V N Vasavan has dismissed the opposition's demand for resignation in the Sabarimala controversy. The minister asked in the assembly in what context demanding my resignation. He mockingly asked whether there is an FIR against him at any station in the country. The minister added that if anyone had stolen any gold from the Sabarimala temple, would find and return it.
'Unnikrishnan Potty made some revelations in a leading channel on September 17. He said there was a reduction of four kilograms in the Dwarpalaka idols taken from Sabarimala in 2019. This was recovered from Unnikrishnan's relative's house on September 28th. The person who took the gold himself is raising the objection. A high-level investigation should be conducted in this regard or else a special investigation team should be appointed. Why demanding my resignation, asked the minister?
Is there any FIR against me in India? If anyone has stolen any gold from Sabarimala, the government that is ruling Kerala today is capable of finding it, return it and take strict action against the person who did it,’ the minister said.
The opposition had protested in the assembly today on the gold-plating controversy in Sabarimala. They protested by raising a banner in front of Speaker A N Shamseer. With this, the Speaker informed that the House is being temporarily adjourned. Opposition leader V D Satheesan also alleged that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan body shamed a member of the opposition.
