Actress Vasundhara Das said that with the re-release of Mohanlal's hit film Ravanaprabhu, fans will be able to go to theatres and enjoy the movie again. Vasundhara played Mohanlal's pair Janaki in the film. Vasundhara had opened up about her acting in Ravanaprabhu in an interview. The actress added that many people had told director Ranjith not to cast her as the heroine in the film.

'I have been experiencing the love of Malayalis in Kerala and other parts of Kerala for the last 24 years through Ravanaprabhu. My first two films touched the hearts of the people. I thought I would stop acting after doing the film 'Citizen'. Ranjith came with the story of Ravanaprabhu while it was being shot. Janaki was a strong female character. It was my desire to do such a character.

Many people told Ranjith not to work with me because I am a very independent person and have a lot of opinions. The song ‘Pottukuthedi’ was the first to be shot. Before that, I was tired of being confined to the walls of the film I acted in. I came to the set of Ravanaprabhu thinking about what was going to happen.

When I came, I was given a T-shirt and a backpack. When I asked what I should do, the director told me to just run. Then I ran for four days for the song shoot. It was a great joy. It felt like I had reached a place where people consciously thought about bringing their artistic talents to the film,' said Vasundhara.
