Manju Pathrose is an actress who became popular among the Malayali audience through television shows and films. The actress, who rose from a difficult background, has often faced cyberattacks on social media. She has been targeted with several allegations, especially involving a close friend, but she has remained strong through all of it. Now, actor and director Alleppey Ashraf has opened up about Manju’s life on his YouTube channel.
“Manju Pathrose is an actress who rose from tough circumstances to success. Even today, she faces large-scale cyberattacks but refuses to be discouraged by them. When her husband, who works abroad, could not attend the housewarming ceremony of their new home, people spread many false stories. They accused her of abandoning her husband when life improved,” Ashraf said.
"Manju has spoken openly on various platforms about her struggles. She once revealed that financial hardship had driven her to consider selling a kidney and even ending her life, but she changed her mind, thinking about her son and parents. She also said she had faced humiliation over her skin tone since childhood and had been a victim of body shaming. Her close friendship with Simi Babu was widely criticised on social media, with many falsely claiming that they were a lesbian couple. Responding to this, Manju clarified that their relationship was purely friendship and questioned why people discriminate against lesbian couples in the first place," he said.
Manju had earlier filed a complaint with the cyber police after her morphed photos were circulated online. The culprit turned out to be a Plus Two student. When Manju met the boy at the police station, she decided to withdraw the case. When the attacks against Manju lessened, actress Renu Sudhi became the next target. If these women were wealthy, such insults and harassment would never have happened," Ashraf added.
